-
- Not true. It _is_ possible to upload files from the calling computer and (with
- the right password) to download files that are pre-authorized for download.
- General access, a la PC Anywhere, is not possible.

-
- Not quite true. The caller must modify the dial command (ATDT) to include the
- parameter which turns on originator's carrier prior to receiving answer tone.
- The way modems generally work is that the calling modem remains silent until
- hearing the answer tone from the other side. SuperVoice (your answering modem,
- actually) has no way to know that the caller (being silent) is a modem rather
- than a human being. The way that the modem differentiates between a
- fax/voice/modem call is by what comes in on the line. If the modem hears a fax
- CNG (beep pause beep pause, etc.) it will switch automatically to fax mode. If
- it hears a modem's originate tone, it will switch automatically into data mode.
- If it hears silence, it will be in voice mode.

-
- Unless preceding the phone number with a caret is the command in your dialing
- modem for turning on originator's carrier, this will not do the trick. There
- are only two ways to connect in data mode. One is to force originator's
- carrier. The other is to wait for the menu message to start and send the
- appropriate DTMF tone to the menu to manually switch for data mode.
